Taiwan At Centre Of AI Boom
Huang described Taiwan as the “epicentre” of the global AI revolution and said the island would remain the world’s technology manufacturing hub for years to come.
“Taiwan is booming,” Huang told employees, partners and government officials during the event.
The Nvidia CEO said the company previously spent between $10 billion and $15 billion annually in Taiwan, but investment has now surged past $100 billion and is expected to rise further.
New Headquarters Planned
Nvidia’s new Taiwan headquarters is scheduled to break ground later this year and is expected to become operational by 2030.
The company plans to employ around 4,000 people at the site as it expands engineering, AI infrastructure and supply chain operations across the region.
The headquarters will strengthen Nvidia’s relationship with TSMC which manufactures many of Nvidia’s advanced AI chips.
Supply Chain Expansion
The investment will also deepen partnerships with major Taiwanese manufacturing firms including Foxconn, Wistron and Quanta Computer, which play critical roles in assembling AI servers and data centre infrastructure.
Taiwan remains a cornerstone of the global AI supply chain for companies including Nvidia and Apple largely because of TSMC’s dominance in advanced semiconductor manufacturing.
AI Spending Race Accelerates
Nvidia’s aggressive expansion comes as competition intensifies across the AI sector.
Earlier this month Advanced Micro Devices announced plans to invest more than $10 billion in Taiwan’s AI industry to expand chip production and strategic partnerships.
Nvidia became the world’s first $5 trillion company last year as soaring demand for AI chips transformed the semiconductor industry.
Huang told the audience he believes Nvidia’s valuation could climb even higher over the next three to five years.
Global Spotlight On Huang
Huang continues to command celebrity-like attention in Taiwan, where his appearances attract intense media coverage.
Born in Taiwan’s southern city of Tainan, Huang moved to the United States at the age of nine.
Earlier this month he joined the US President Donald Trump during a visit to Beijing for talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping amid growing geopolitical competition around AI and semiconductor technology.
