Nvidia Partner ChipAgents Raises $60M to Boost AI-Powered Chip Design
Synopsis
ChipAgents has secured an additional US$60 million to accelerate AI-powered chip design, expand its collaboration with Nvidia and develop specialised AI models for semiconductor engineering.
Key Highlights
- ChipAgents bags further US$60 million Series A funding
- Start-up accelerates semiconductor design using AI agents
- With this round of funding, the total for the company reaches US$131 million.
ChipAgents, a semiconductor software company partnered with Nvidia, raised US$60 million of Series A financing to expedite the creation of AI agents to automate and hasten chip design.
It will be used to fund the process, via AI-powered software that can carry out complex engineering tasks while requiring very little human supervision, thereby minimising time and cost in designing semiconductors.
Accelerating Chip Design with AI
ChipAgents nowadays have an AI agent that uses software involved in various parts of the chip design process, specifically package verification which guarantees whether chips work correctly or not after manufacturing.
CEO William Wang stated that verifying a chip is one of the most time-consuming parts of semiconductor development, to ensure it has no bugs and where the company’s software is making its biggest differences.
Chip design takes years and costs hundreds of millions of dollars, and that’s motivated multiple startups to create AI-based tools that may streamline the task.
Nvidia Collaboration Expands
ChipAgents announced earlier this week that it had extended a strategic partnership with Nvidia to build a bespoke AI model for chip design. B Capital led the latest funding round and contributed to ChipAgents’ total funding of US$131 million. Other participants in the existing funding rounds are Micron, MediaTek and Ericsson.
