Nvidia will make a US$5 billion equity investment in Safe Superintelligence (SSI), and a strategic partnership with the AI startup partly founded by former OpenAI chief scientist Ilya Sutskever. Both companies announced the partnership Monday but didn’t reveal financial terms.

In their statement, the companies claimed that SSI will utilise most of this funding to scale its computing resources. The partnership will also give access to Nvidia’s Vera Rubin hardware for SSI. The strategic partnership was negotiated and concluded in a few weeks, said two people familiar with the matter.
