Synopsis

OpenClaw, the open-source AI platform that went viral earlier this year, has released mobile apps that allow users to run AI agents from their phones, marking its latest push to bring agentic AI into everyday use

OpenClaw, the open-source AI platform which grabbed many developers' attention this year, now also made its way to the mobile with the native iPhone and Android applications.

The new applications let users connect to the already installed OpenClaw Gateway to talk with AI agents, and approve the task and govern workflows from the mobile without utilizing cloud processing resources.

The mobile applications are client companions rather than cloud AI assistants. It lets users interact remotely with OpenClaw, while software operates from its own hardware or server.

Chapter one

Developer adoption has accelerated

OpenClaw's speedy growth within the open-source communities has now been coupled with its mobile launches. By the end of June 2026, its GitHub page was already featuring more than 379,000 stars and 79,000 forks.

Being one of the top open-source AI repos on GitHub, this project is now giving its users multiple Large Language Model support. So, it has offered users the freedom to choose various AI service providers and isn’t limited by the specific ecosystem.

Earlier this year, the project was handed over to the OpenClaw Foundation which has been established after OpenClaw’s creator, Peter Steinberger, went on to work for OpenAI. The organization claims that OpenAI funds the project, although it has neither ownership nor control over it.

The OpenClaw foundation is a non-profit organization and it does not publish any commercial revenue and earnings details.

Chapter two

AI agents remain a growing software category

The release of these mobile apps is well-timed with AI agents becoming increasingly relevant across Australian workplaces and for software developers, and customer support services in the United States and Europe.

The overall global artificial intelligence market was around US$279.22 billion in the year 2024, with expected annual growth at 35.9%, from the current year till 2030. This growth can be attributed to the rise in investments from corporations for their further progress in AI.

Given growing concerns about privacy, data protection, and security in the Australian region, self-hosted AI for companies has seen a noticeable spike.

The concern towards privacy, security, and data governance among Australian companies is the prime factor which has led to a rise in demand for self-hosted AI. U.S.-based companies are escalating their adoption of AI while also grappling with issues related to privacy and regulations and seeking to retain control over their data.

The OpenClaw mobile apps are available for download via the App Store for iPhone and Google Play Store for Android and are designed for existing users without altering the platform’s self-hosted deployment strategy.
