Aurizon Announces Share Buy-Back
Aurizon Holdings (ASX: AZJ) is delivering its strong FY2026 result. Earlier today it announced a $250 million on-market share buy-back commencing in the next few weeks.
The program will start September 8, 2026 and could take up to twelve months to run. Aurizon said the buy-back forms part of its wider strategy of balancing investment into the business and future growth with returns to shareholders.
Aurizon’s Board believes the current share price represents an attractive opportunity to return additional capital to shareholders. Aurizon said the buy-back will be funded from existing borrowing capacity. Its cash position, the company stated, remains strong with ongoing cash generation.
Shares bought back under the program will be cancelled. That would mean that the other shareholders own a greater percentage of the business and potentially have a larger portion of where to earn going forward.
What Happens Next
Aurizon shares will start being purchased from September 8, but how much and how often will come down to market conditions.
The program may be changed, paused or discontinued by the company at any time. Aurizon said it was committed to maintaining its investment-grade credit ratings and investing in its operations, as well as supporting long-term growth.
