A Melbourne man has gone to trial after pleading not guilty to two counts of rape over an incident at a house party in January 2024. Prosecutors argue that the man raped a woman through deception by pretending to be her friend in a dark bedroom; she asked him to stop, but he pinned her down. The accused had allegedly created fake Uber receipt timestamps to prop up his false alibi. Defence lawyer says client denied rape but admitted making a fake receipt. A jury of twelve must return a unanimous verdict. The woman is set to give evidence in a closed court on Tuesday.
