SpotSpotify has launched a new feature that lets people send messages to each other inside the app. The change means you no longer need to leave Spotify to share a song, podcast, or audiobook with a friend. The feature will be rolled out in a few markets and will be available to both free and premium users who are 16.

To share an icon while the track podcast is playing, pick a friend and hit the send button. If the person you message accepts the request, you can keep sending them items and see past messages from your profile menu. Spotify says the feature was made because users asked for an easier way to keep track of things shared on the platform.

How The New Messages Work and Who Can Use Them 

When you are in the now playing screen, you can show someone from a suggested list or search for a friend. Suggested contacts will come from people you have shared with before, your family or a duo plan, and those you have a collaborative playlist with. Once a message request is accepted by the person, both people can exchange music and audio easily inside Spotify.

This feature will be rolled out to selected countries this week. Users must be at least 16 years old. Spotify said it will help artists as well because fans can share more often and find new listeners through those recommendations.
