Gemini 3

Synopsis

Google on Wednesday released Gemini 3, its newest artificial intelligence model, and immediately put it into its search engine. The company said this marked the first time Google has embedded a new AI model directly into search from day one. The company says Gemini 3 is its smartest model yet. Features that paying subscribers are getting with the change include an AI agent that can handle multi-step tasks and search results designed to look like full websites rather than just blocks of text. Gemini 3 was released 11 months after the second version of the model. Google leaders said during a press meeting that Gemini 3 does better than other AI systems on popular tests.

Google released a new version of its artificial intelligence system, Gemini 3. Google said that immediately, people can start using the new AI in a number of its products, including its search engine. That's different from previous releases, when it took weeks or months before the new technology showed up in products that everyday users interact with.

Chapter one

New AI Keeps Google in the Race

Gemini 3 was released 11 months after the second version of the model. Google leaders said during a press meeting that Gemini 3 does better than other AI systems on popular tests, which measure how well these programs work. Sundar Pichai is the chief executive of Google. He wrote in a company blog post that Gemini 3 is the most intelligent model Google has made. The company wants to stay ahead of other companies building AI, like OpenAI and Anthropic.

Investors on Wall Street closely watch to see if companies can actually make any money from artificial intelligence. Some even fret that there's an AI bubble in which companies spend and spend, and not particularly good outcomes. Alphabet's stock is up this year largely because its cloud computing division is bringing in cash from AI services. But even companies with the best AI developers sometimes struggle to show that new updates are, in fact, better than older versions.

Chapter two

Google Wants to Make Money From AI

Google said Gemini 3 is different because it is already working on products that are making money from the first day. Koray Kavukcuoglu is Google's chief AI architect, told reporters that Google is releasing models and getting them to people faster than ever before. In the past, new versions of Gemini took a long time to show up in Google's most popular products.

Pichai said this is the first time Google has put its new model into its search engine on the same day it came out. People who pay for Google's premium AI subscription can use Gemini 3 in something called AI Mode. It is a search feature that skips showing regular websites and instead gives computer-generated answers for hard questions. Google improved Gemini 3 in many areas, such as writing computer code and solving problems.

Changes That Hurt Website Owners

Google also redesigned how the Gemini app looks. It can now give answers that appear like a full website and not just text. That is bad news for those owning websites that require visitors to make them money.

Gemini can now answer a question like creating a Van Gogh gallery with information about each piece. The AI creates a page right away, complete with pictures and things people can click on. This therefore, means people might not visit regular websites anymore because they get everything they need from Google.

For business customers, Google demonstrated something called Antigravity. This is a software development platform on which AI agents, acting independently, can do the planning and writing of computer code. This, in effect, could help companies build software more quickly without needing as many human programmers. And Google wants businesses to pay for this.

Chapter four

Competition Stays Tough in AI

The competition to make the best artificial intelligence remains very competitive. Google has some tough competitors. All these companies are in a sprint to show that their AI is the most superior and useful. They also must demonstrate they can generate revenue from all the billions of dollars they are spending to make these systems.
