Applications Open for Edition’s $15,000 Female Founder Grant
Synopsis
The initiative aims to support women-led startups across Australia and New Zealand with branding, strategy and investor pitch assistance.
Applications are now open for the 2026 Edition Female Founder Grant, which offers one Australian or New Zealand-based female entrepreneur A$15,000 in professional agency services for the growth of their early-stage business.
Entries are open until July 10, 2026, through Edition’s online application portal for aspiring female founders looking to grow a high-growth startup in Australia. The grant is non-monetary but instead provides business assistance, such as brand development, strategy, and investor pitch prep, among others.
Selected founders are asked to describe their business model, aspirations, and the impact these services will have.
According to Edition, the program aims to give female founders much-needed access to specialised business support. It can be very difficult for early-stage companies to access such specialized expertise with their limited resources, it explained.
Funding Gap Continues Across Startup Markets
The timing of the launch of this program correlates with growing data confirming a funding disparity experienced by female entrepreneurs. In the first quarter of 2026, Australian businesses collectively raised A$1.8 billion across 81 publicly announced funding rounds, according to the Cut Through Quarterly Q1 2026 Australian Startup Funding Report.
Women-led businesses captured 12% of total investment value and 22% of announced deals.
This trend is global; Pitchbook’s All In: Female Founders in the VC Ecosystem (2025) shows women-led companies captured only about 2% of the US venture capital raised in 2025.
In Europe, all-female founded teams earned 1.6% of VC investment despite comprising a higher proportion of funded rounds, according to Female Foundry’s Female Innovation Index 2025.
Initiatives such as the Australian government’s Boosting Female Founders Initiative are working to alleviate the situation, offering grants of between A$25,000 to A$480,000 to women-led ventures planning for expansion.
Business Support Beyond Capital
The Edition Female Founder Grant differs from traditional equity investment by allowing entrepreneurs to retain complete ownership of their businesses. The winning recipient receives business-centric services to strengthen market position, define company strategy and prepare the business for investor attention.
The Edition Female Founder Grant is accessible to women founding businesses across tech and other growth industries throughout Australia and New Zealand and closes July 10, 2026.
