What Went Wrong at Cloudflare
Cloudflare said a big outage happened because of a problem with one of its computer files. It uses special files to handle dangerous internet traffic and keep websites safe. He said that many websites now hide behind Cloudflare to stay safe from attacks. Bad actors may attempt to flood a website with excessive traffic in order to make the site unavailable to normal users. Such an assault is referred to as a denial of service attack.
Cloudflare is a service that prevents sites from these kinds of attacks. However, Toker said that because so many sites use Cloudflare, it has become one of the biggest single failure points on the net. Hence, a sizeable chunk of the web is unreachable when Cloudflare is having a hard time.
Not the First Big Outage Recently
Cloudflare said clearly that this was a technical problem and not an attack. There is no evidence to believe someone tried to attack them or cause damage on purpose, the company said.
