Fresh off the reports from Axios, the Trump administration have limited foreign access to some of Anthropic's most advanced AI models. It said the restrictions would bar foreign governments, firms and individuals from using its most recent AI systems.
The company was informed by US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick in a letter about its Mythos 5 and Fable 5 models being subject to export controls. The restrictions would target any location outside the U.S. and foreign nationals in America, they said.
Timing of this announcement, would limit the access to some of these models by the international community from Anthropic and add to a growing trend by US government regulators on how best to control how advanced AI technologies are distributed.
The report did not elaborate on how the restrictions would be implemented, or whether waivers would be granted to any particular countries/dent organisations.
