A New Framework to Verify AI Shopping Agents

A three-way partnership between Ant International, Mastercard, and Visa aims to create common standards to identify and verify AI agents that can buy things on behalf of their owners. The two companies announced on Thursday that they have started working on a Know-Your-Agent interoperability framework with the goal of allowing card networks, digital wallets, agent platforms and online marketplaces to identify trusted AI agents between payment ecosystems but still keep their own individual approval and risk-management processes.

Chapter three

Preparing for the Rise of Agentic Commerce

The move comes as the payments industry readies itself for an explosion of agentic global consumer commerce, where AI agents take a step beyond recommending purchases to actually fulfilling them.

The framework leverages protocols already created by each company, with Visa’s Trusted Agent Protocol, Mastercard Verifiable Intent and Ant International’s Agentic Mobile Protocol. The firms said the effort could lower integration costs and speed up rollouts of new agentic services by enhancing trust and risk transparency across network participants.

Chapter four

Collaboration Through Singapore-Based Platform

Ant International, Mastercard and Visa said they would collaborate through BuildFin. ai, a platform led by the Monetary Authority of Singapore that brings together financial institutions, technology providers and researchers to develop Artificial Intelligence solutions for the financial services sector.
