Synopsis

Londian Wason raised US$94.3 million in an upsized offering before its NYSE shares opened above the IPO price, delivering the biggest Chinese US listing in more than a year.

Chinese copper foil manufacturer Londian Wason New Energy Tech made a strong debut on the NYSE on Wednesday, reaching a market valuation of $2.01 billion in the largest U.S. IPO by a Chinese company in more than a year.

The Shenzhen-based firm raised $94.3 million after upsizing its offering with shares priced at $22 before opening at $26 on their first day of trading.

The listing comes at a time when Chinese IPO activity in the U.S. remains subdued due to geopolitical tensions and tighter regulatory scrutiny.

It also reflects growing investor interest in companies supplying critical materials for EVs, AI infrastructure and advanced electronics. These are the sectors that continue to drive global demand for high-performance copper foil.

Chapter one

NYSE Debut Signals Renewed Investor Interest

Londian Wason's listing is the biggest U.S. IPO by a Chinese company since tea chain Chagee went public in April last year, according to Dealogic data.

Chinese companies have significantly reduced their U.S. listing activity in recent years as trade tensions between Washington and Beijing intensified and regulators increased oversight of China-based issuers. Against this backdrop, Londian Wason's successful debut could signal that investors remain willing to back Chinese companies with strong exposure to high-growth industries.

However, analysts cautioned against viewing the listing as evidence of a full recovery in the U.S. market for Chinese IPOs.

Chapter two

Limited Share Float may Increase Volatility

Lukas Muehlbauer, Research Associate at IPOX, said companies with relatively small public floats often experience greater price volatility because limited share availability can create a scarcity premium.

He also warned that future capital raises could increase the number of shares in circulation, potentially weighing on the stock if the company seeks additional funding to support expansion.

Moreover, investors are expected to monitor the company's customer concentration. According to its disclosures, its five largest customers generated about 64% of total revenue in 2025 which highlights a degree of dependence on a relatively small client base.

Chapter three

Demand for EVs and AI Infrastructure Supports Growth

Londian Wason manufactures lithium battery copper foil, advanced electronic circuit foils and flexible copper-clad laminates. These are the materials that play a critical role in modern technology.

Its products are widely used in electric vehicles, 5G communications, consumer electronics and energy storage systems. Rising investment in AI data centres and electrification has further strengthened demand for these components.

According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), global electric vehicle sales exceeded 17 million units in 2024 and EV adoption is expected to continue growing. Thus, it’ll increase demand for battery materials such as copper foil.

At the same time, rapid expansion of AI infrastructure is driving higher consumption of advanced circuit materials used in servers and high-performance computing equipment.

Chapter four

Long-term Growth will Depend on Diversification

While Londian Wason has benefited from strong demand across multiple technology sectors, analysts believe its long-term performance will depend on widening its customer base and maintaining sustainable revenue growth.

As global investment in clean energy, AI and advanced electronics accelerates, the company is well positioned to benefit. Even so, investors will be watching closely to see whether it can reduce customer concentration while capitalising on expanding international demand.
