ank of America raised the total compensation of its chief executive Brian Moynihan of 2025 to 41 million, 17.1% higher than the prior year, in a regulatory filing.
The package covers a salary base of a million and half plus other incentive packages mostly comprising of stock awards and other incentives tied to the performance of the company.
The wage increase comes after a year of increasing profits and share returns in the second-largest bank in the USA. Bank of America registered net income of 30.5 billion in 2025, as compared to 27 billion in 2024. The bank stock had increased approximately 25 percent throughout the year and it is its third year of positive returns.
The lender also had better fourth-quarter results which were backed by higher trading activity and higher interest income, which is the revenue the banks gain by lending.
The bank of America explained that its board took into account the bank financial performance, developments on business priorities, and activities of employees and communities in determining the compensation of Moynihan.
Moynihan was appointed chief executive in 2010 and has led the development and operations of the bank in the last decade.
Besides the executive compensation, Bank of America still had its employee stock award program. In 2025, the bank awarded approximately 1 billion dollars of equity to its employees except the senior executives. This was the ninth year that the company had dispersed stock awards to the rest of its workforce.
Bank chief executive payments were also increased in the industry. According to company disclosures, Citigroup CEO Jane Fraser earned $42 million, JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon earned $43 million, Wells Fargo CEO Charlie Scharf earned $40 million, Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon earned $47 million, and Morgan Stanley CEO Ted Pick earned $45 million.
