Police discovered around 60 individuals doing this within Australia alone. They are also cooperating with police officers in America, England, New Zealand and Canada because this is occurring worldwide. Technology firms are assisting in creating a computer program that is able to identify the unusual emojis and slang terms used when such groups converse secretly about harming individuals.
Here’s something significant – Australia is going to begin a new regulation in December that forbids children below the age of 16 from using social media. The entire idea is protecting children on the internet. But gaming sites and chat programs are excluded from this regulation. That is a significant issue because those are precisely where these criminals take the girls they victimize. Barrett described this as a completely new type of violence against girls and women, but it’s all on phones and computers now rather than face to face.
