XRP price drop accelerated quickly, with the token falling about 16% within 24 hours. It fell to approximately $1.29, which was the most unsatisfactory result among the leading cryptocurrencies over the period. The fall followed as the overall crypto market deteriorated, as Bitcoin dropped about 7 per cent and various altcoins dropped at the same time.
This was not a result of one event. Rather, it was a combination of technical failures, liquidations, and fluctuations in the market.
Liquidations Made The Fall Worse
Forced liquidations in futures markets were considered one of the largest causes of the decline in the price of XRP. One day, approximately $46 million of XRP positions in the form of trading were liquidated, and the majority of them were bullish positions.
As soon as XRP dropped to less than the price support of the important figure of 1.44, automatic sell orders were triggered. This had a domino effect. This further forced more leveraged positions to close out as the prices came down, further accelerating the decline.
Such a trend is typical of crypto liquidation events, particularly when traders trade with a lot of leverage.
Crypto Sell-Off Hit Altcoins Harder Than Bitcoin
XRP was not the only one to fall. Most of the large tokens were hit by the greater crypto sell-off. Bitcoin fell into a high liquidation range, and Ethereum and other altcoins were not left behind in registering significant losses.
When markets correct, bigger percentage declines are generally experienced with Altcoins than with Bitcoin. XRP also had a similar trend, as it responded more to selling pressure.
The liquidation of the total crypto market exceeded 1 billion over the period, indicating the prevalence of the sell-off.
ETF Inflows Continued Despite Price Decline
Interestingly, XRP investment products also had inflows. XRP-based exchange funds were able to accrue about 24 million in new money in the recent past. The cumulative inflows since the launch have been approximately 1.2 billion.
This indicates that there is no end to institutional participation. The inflows into ETFs, however, were not sufficient to avoid short-term price pressure due to the trading activities and liquidations.
This brings out a crucial fact. Market sentiment and leverage continue to determine short-term price movement, and it is possible that institutional interest can encourage a long-term outlook.
Technical Levels Now In Focus
The fall under the value of 1.44 altered the technical setup of XRP. It had served as a support in the previous level, and when it failed, it amplified the downside risk.
XRP is currently significantly lower than it was in January 2026, when it was approximately at the $2.41 position. This demonstrates that the prices may easily turn around when the market is very volatile.
The traders also await whether the XRP will stabilise around the present values or additional losses might occur in case the market feebleness persists.
The price decline of XRP is an indicator of the existing state of the crypto market. Fundamental changes are being propelled by leveraged trading and overall risk sentiment rather than fundamental changes.
