pronto.ai

Autonomous vehicles start-up, Pronto.ai acquired SpaceAi, which is a company known for its safety-first approach to off-road autonomy. The acquisition combines Pronto’s camera-only autonomous Haulage System (AHS) with SpaceAI’s advanced multi-sensory technology, bringing together the best of affordability and safety in a single offering.

With this decision, Pronto aims to become the global leader in Road autonomy, especially in industries like mining and construction. CEO Anthony Levandowski said the deal would help Pronto to expand faster and move a bit closer to becoming the first profitable, autonomous vehicle company.

Serving Everyone From Small Quarries to Large Mines

Together, both of these companies are launching the industry’s first tiered technology portfolio for autonomous haulage. This means that the business can choose systems based on its size and budget.

For smaller operations, Pronto’s camera-only AHS offers a very simple, low-cost solution that can be up and running in weeks. For larger mines that require more safety features and more precision, SafeAI’s system uses cameras, radar, and lidar to ensure reliable performance, even in tough conditions. This flexibility helps all kinds of customers access automation from local to global mining companies.

Safety At the Core of the Deal

SafeAI’s Technology is certified under ASIL-D, which is the highest safety level in the autonomous industry. This means the systems are created to function with extreme reliability, even in life-threatening conditions.

This high standard will now apply across Pronto’s systems, giving customers more confidence while working in dangerous or remote locations. The combined systems are also more officiant because they require less power while detecting faults, faster and more accurately.

Pronto’s Growth Continues

The acquisition follows a period of strong growth for Pronto, including a major deal to deploy over 100 autonomous trucks with Heidelberg Materials and an expansion to Brazil. With both companies’ teams now working together, drawing experience from Tesla, Apple, Uber, and more, Pronto is creating what it calls the most advanced off-road autonomy solution in the world.
