Nvidia has become the first company ever to hit a $4 trillion market value. This milestone highlights its dominance in the fast-growing artificial intelligence industry. On Wednesday, its shares jumped as much as 2.8% to an all-time high of $164.42 before closing up 1.8%. While the official close left Nvidia’s value at $3.9 trillion, the momentary surge marks a huge milestone for the company and for investor confidence in its future.
This latest rally created a massive rebound. Nvidia’s stock has climbed 74% since April, following global market ups and downs caused by tariff threats. With the demand for AI chips growing, the company has now tripled its market value since first crossing the $1 trillion mark in June 2023.
AI boom pushed Nvidia ahead of Apple and Microsoft
Nvidia’s rise in value places it above Microsoft and Apple, both of which also sit above $3 trillion in market capitalization. Microsoft is now valued at $3.74 trillion, while Apple is just behind. Nvidia alone makes up 7.3% of the S&P 500, more than either of its major tech rivals.
Experts say that the AI demand is reshaping how companies spend money on their technology. “Nvidia’s growth shows that AI is not just a trend. It’s becoming the foundation of modern technology,” said Robert Pavlik, a senior portfolio manager.
The company powers everything from data centres to AI-driven software, making them essential in the ongoing transformation. Despite the rise of rival companies like AMD and investor concerns about the high cost of AI infrastructure, Nvidia continues to be the top.
Strong revenue and positive outlook ahead of Q2 results
Nvidia reported $44.1 billion in revenue in the first quarter of 2025, which is a 69% increase from last year. For the second quarter of 2025, the company expects revenue to be around $45 billion, with final numbers due on August 27.
Nvidia is not just moving ahead of its rival companies, but its market capitalisation is now higher than the combined stock markets of Canada, Mexico, and even bigger than the entire UK market, as per LSEG. As AI continues to fuel innovation in reshaping industries, Nvidia remains at the centre of the transformation.
