Perplexity AI IPO 2028 Plan Remains Unchanged Despite OpenAI, Anthropic Listings
Synopsis
Perplexity AI has reaffirmed its plans to pursue a public listing in 2028, regardless of how upcoming IPOs from OpenAI, Anthropic and SpaceX perform. CEO Aravind Srinivas told CNBC that the company's IPO timeline remains unchanged despite growing investor attention on major AI stock market debuts. Srinivas acknowledged that SpaceX's IPO could provide an early signal for future AI offerings, but said Perplexity's strategy remains focused on long-term growth. The company also reiterated that it has no plans to go public before 2028, maintaining a position first outlined in 2025.
Perplexity AI says it has plans for an IPO in 2028, but refuses to compromise with upcoming public offerings of OpenAI, Anthropic and SpaceX.
Perplexity AI IPO 2028 Still On Target
Even as bigger players in AI prepare to enter the public markets, Perplexity AI IPO 2028 plans are staying on course.
CEO Aravind Srinivas told the broadcasters the firm had already been aiming for 2028 to hit the stock market. He said we were agnostic of these two companies and we have something planned for 2028, so that remains.
Perplexity IPO Timeline Remains Independent
The remarks follow OpenAI's filing for a U.S. IPO in secret, as well as the recent Anthropic filing one week prior. Elon Musk's SpaceX is also expected to go public this week. Srinivas noted that there could be knock-on effects if those listings do not succeed, but emphasized that the IPO schedule for Perplexity was otherwise unchanged.
SpaceX IPO to Indicate Status of All IPOs
The upcoming SpaceX listing could perhaps be a proxy for other major technology offerings, noted Srinivas. This week the SpaceX IPO will surely be a leading indicator of how Anthropic or OpenAI are going to go. He also said the future of the AI industry would depend on how successful those types of IPOs were.
No AI Search Engine IPO Before 2028
Consistently aiming since 2028 as the earliest IPO date has allowed the company structure to create a sound, fast-growing business, Chief Business Officer Dmitry Shevelenko said. Additionally, the AI search engine IPO company had said in 2025 that it wasn’t running out of cash and did not contemplate an IPO until at least 2028, a position which it still has not changed.
