Synopsis

SpaceX’s highly anticipated IPO is expected to create several new billionaires beyond Elon Musk as the company targets a valuation near $2 trillion. Key executives and longtime allies including Gwynne Shotwell, Bret Johnsen, Luke Nosek, and Antonio Gracias could see their stakes rise dramatically after the public listing. The IPO marks a major milestone for the aerospace giant, which has grown into a global leader in rocket launches, satellite internet, and defense technology. Analysts believe the offering could become one of the biggest wealth-creation events in modern corporate and technology history.

The SpaceX IPO is going to be a huge wealth event in the history of America. When much of the discussion has been around Elon Musk possibly becoming the world's first trillionaire, some other senior executives, directors and old allies will also see their fortunes reach new heights.

SpaceX, which aims to be valued at almost $2 trillion when it goes public, potentially on June 11, would place the company among the most valuable publicly traded companies in the world, even ahead of established aerospace and technology giants. The IPO is poised to benefit insiders who were early supporters of Musk and SpaceX when the company was still a risky space startup in private hands.

Chapter one

Reasons Why The SpaceX IPO is so Important

For more than two decades SpaceX has been slowly constructing an indestructible stake into commercial rocket launches, satellite internet services provided by its Starlink Marunadan constellation and tight government/defence contracts. After Musk’s artificial intelligence venture xAI merged with the company earlier this year, its valuation has ballooned even more.

SpaceX was able to remain private for many years, which as we know allowed executives and early investors to own significant stakes right before big public markets were open. Analysts said the IPO could redefine space investing, exposing investors to a business that is already closely tied with global communications, defence tech and future outer-space exploration.

Musk Allies Who Will Benefit from SpaceX IPO

Gwynne Shotwell

Gwynne Shotwell has been at SpaceX since the company was founded in 2002. She was brought on to lead the sales team for Falcon 1 rocket. Later became President and COO in 2008 and has been one of the critical members of the company.

Today, her SpaceX stake is worth about $1 billion. Her stake could be worth about $2 billion if the company comes out at a $ 2 trillion valuation.

Shotwell holds 12.4 million SpaceX shares directly and via trusts. She also owns millions of stock options, some of which are still pending. Her total compensation last year came to almost $85.8 million, according to the company’s prospectus.

Shotwell has represented SpaceX publicly for years as Musk pursues his other ventures like Tesla, X, Neuralink and xAI. Shotwell began her career in aerospace engineering after studying mechanical engineering and applied mathematics at Northwestern University before SpaceX's global mega success.

Bret Johnsen

Johnsen came to SpaceX in 2011, having previously worked key finance roles at tech firms, Broadcom Corp. and Mindspeed Technologies. Today, his SpaceX stake is worth nearly $695 million. That could be about $1.4 billion at a $2 trillion valuation.

Johnsen has been a key part of managing investor relations and allegorising stock sales for SpaceX, which had long kept tight-lipped even amidst becoming one of the world's best three privately held companies.

Johnsen is further described helping explain the company’s rationale for doing an IPO in an internal email to employees in late 2025, explaining that the IPO could provide significant new funding so long as markets are receptive. His total reported pay last year came to nearly $9.8 million.

Chapter three

Luke Nosek

One of the biggest beneficiaries of the IPO could be Luke Nosek, one of Musk’s oldest and longest-time business associates, going back to PayPal days. This includes the 2008 company founding and the eventual Board member by the founder of the Board member, Nosek, who co-founded PayPal, and was also an early investor in SpaceX.

Currently, his stake in SpaceX is estimated to be worth approximately $2.5 billion. If SpaceX achieves its IPO valuation goal he could hold more than $5 billion worth of stock.

Nosek was a co-founder of Founders Fund, an investor fund created after PayPal sold to eBay with his old partner Peter Thiel. He went on to start Gigafund, which has poured money into SpaceX and other Musk investments.

Nosek now controls around 25 million Class A shares directly as well as millions more through investment vehicles. He also pledged some of those shares as collateral for loans, reports said.

Chapter four

Antonio Gracias

Investor Antonio Gracias may himself be reaping one of the single biggest financial rewards after Musk. Valour Equity Partners was founded by Gracias and he has invested in Musk’s companies for years, placing early bets on retailers Tesla and SpaceX.

Valour-managed owns 7.3% of SpaceX’s Class A shares and holds a stake of around 4% in the company by economic interest, according to Bloomberg calculations. As of now, Gracias has a stake of $5.9 billion worth of stakes in SpaceX,. These stakes could be worth nearly $11.5 billion when the company hits the $2 trillion valuation mark. Apart from investing, Gracias also collaborated alongside Musk on a host of projects and sits on the boards of Neuralink and The Boring Company.

Musk Remains The Overall Winner

While several executives and investors are on course to become billionaires, they will be nowhere near Musk’s expected wealth.

Due to his concentrated ownership and voting power, Musk is likely to continue commanding SpaceX’s financial future post-IPO. If the shares do well when trading opens in the public markets, analysts think the listing could provide him a net worth approaching $1 trillion. This IPO would not only upend global wealth rankings but also boost Musk’s sway in technology, space, AI and global communications.
