Chapter three

Why does the deal strengthen Judo?

Judo improves capital flexibility and continues to lend to Australian small and medium businesses because of the strong demand for the securitisation from domestic and international issuers. SME loans included in the acquisition are still on Judo's balance sheet, so the bank continues earning interest income from those.

Judo stated that the deal meets regulatory capital relief guidelines, enabling it to increase profitability without decreasing its loan exposure. Management also noted that the successful transaction provides the company with greater flexibility for future capital management efforts.
