Monadelphous secures major new contracts in mining and renewables
Monadelphous Group Ltd announced that it has won a $120 million contract for new construction and maintenance in the Australian minerals and renewable energy sectors. The engineering company announced a series of significant deals, including a five-year panel contract to supply crane and lifting services across Rio Tinto's Pilbara operations.
The announcement of the contract follows Monadelphous’ recent win with Rio Tinto, where the company secured a three-year extension for multidisciplinary sustaining capital services, further extending the relationship between one of Australia’s leading service companies and one of the world’s largest mining groups.
The Fortescue Battery Energy Storage Project to Build Momentum
A large portion of the new work consists of constructing a battery energy storage system project at Fortescue’s Cloudbreak mine site. Monadelphous said this was its third battery energy storage system (BESS) project for Fortescue, and that investment by mining houses in decarbonising solutions continues to grow.
The appointment also includes a three-year structural and mechanical maintenance panel with Port Waratah Coal Services at Newcastle. The Cloudbreak BESS project is likely to be ready in the second half of FY26.
Growth Driven by Strong Client Relations
According to Monadelphous, the most recent wins signal its strategy of growing key customers through long-term relationship building, alongside growth in infrastructure and renewable energy opportunities. The business is still increasing its exposure to mining services, battery storage projects, and broader decarbonisation activity in Australia and overseas. Monadelphous shares have soared about 69% over the last year, powered by the company’s momentum and outpacing the S&P/ASX 200 Index (ASX: XJO), which is up about 3%.
