Synopsis

Trained on tens of thousands of Nvidia GB300 GPUs, Grok 4.5 is designed to deliver faster, more cost-efficient performance for coding and enterprise AI applications.

Chapter one

Key Highlights

  • SpaceXAI has launched Grok 4.5, the latest and strongest AI model it has trained.
  • The model is oriented towards completing coding and agentic functions.
  • Grok Build, Cursor, and the SpaceXAI developer console were released with Grok 4.5.

On Wednesday, SpaceXAI released Grok 4.5, calling it the company’s most intelligent AI code and agentic model to date.

Grok 4.5 was trained across tens of thousands of Nvidia GB300 graphics processing units and its training is aimed more toward data filtering, with deduplication and quality scoring also a concern, the company said.

Available Through Cursor and Developer API

Grok 4.5 is available now via SpaceXAI’s AI coding agent Grok Build, in Cursor (with an API key), or through the SpaceXAI console. Cursor announced that it is working with SpaceXAI to train Grok 4.5.

Earlier this week, SpaceX-owned Cursor, an enterprise AI tools company that specialises in paraphrasing, announced last month it is being acquired by Anysphere (the owner of the word Cursor) in a $60 billion all-stock deal. The model will be made in the European Union and should be available by mid-July, SpaceXAI said.

Pricing and Competition

Grok 4.5 costs US$2 per million input tokens and US$6 per million output tokens.

The model is an Opus-class AI system that is better-performing in terms of speed, token efficiency and lower cost, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk said.

In comparison, Claude Opus 4.8 from Anthropic is $US5 per million input tokens ($AU10), and $US25 per million output tokens ($AU49), while OpenAI’s GPT-5. 6a LUNA costs the same as its input US$1 per million input tokens, or US$6 for the output million tokens.

Input tokens are the formatted textual or coded string fed to an AI model, and output tokens are text or code produced as a result.

SpaceX also purchased Musk’s AI firm, xAI in February. Last May, he said xAI would break up as a stand-alone company and become SpaceXAI.

OpenAI is also believed to be about to unveil its darlingGPT-5. The report comes as the U.S. government has delayed until Thursday a Model 6 rollout over national security concerns.
