Taylor Swift has petitioned the U.S. regulators to block a trademark registration under Swift Home, saying the name will lead to confusion by consumers that she has anything to do with the brand.
The petition was submitted by TAS Rights Management LLC, the firm that oversees Swift trademarks. The filing challenges a filing by Cathay Home Inc., a New York bedding company that is applying to register Swift Home as a brand on products such as comforters, sheets and other home fabrics.
In the filing, the company of Swift claimed that the intended trademark would lead to confusion due to the usage of the Swift name. It further claimed that the branding would create an apparent relationship or approval by the singer who possesses trademark rights to her name in a wide range of products, including merchandise and home products.
In 2024, Cathay Home trademarked Swift Home and sells its bedding and other products via key retailers in the U.S.
