SpaceX has discussed plans for a consumer mobile phone service in the United States at the executive level with Charter Communications (NASDAQ:CHTR). 

Mobile Partnership Plans

Charter could potentially partner with SpaceX to send some of the satellite’s handheld traffic through Charter’s ground internet infrastructure, according to filing. The SpaceX deal to offer direct-to-cell coverage with T-Mobile to power functionalities since Starlink satellites enable extending mobile connectivity out into remote areas.

Starlink Mobile Expansion

SpaceX has informed investors of plans to introduce a Starlink mobile service for U.S. consumers. If it does launch, the service would put SpaceX in direct competition with bigger wireless providers like Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile.
