Cloud Infrastructure company Nscale is in talks with investors to raise nearly $3.5 billion pre-IPO as per sources. Nscale is to offer up to $1.5 billion in convertible notes to the investors and also hopes to obtain around $2 billion from Nvidia, the source said.
Details of the Fundraising
Goldman Sachs is handling the fundraising, with New York-based hedge fund Third Point slated to spearhead the conversion note investment, said the source. The note was being sold at a double-digit discount to Nscale’s projected IPO price. Instead, this discount would rise to a $30 billion valuation, above which the conversion price would be set.
Background on Nscale
Anthropic also signed a 6-year, $45 billion deal to lease AI computing power from Nscale’s West Virginia data centre campus, Reuters reported last month.
Then you have Nscale, which raised $2 billion in a Series C funding round back in March at a whopping valuation of $14.6 billion. Founded in 2024, the company owns and operates its own data centers along with graphics processing units and a software stack for large-scale, GPU-accelerated AI computing.
