Australia’s SQC Hires Former GlobalFoundries CFO John Hollister

Former GlobalFoundries CFO Joins SQC
University of New South Wales spinout Silicon Quantum Computing has appointed John Hollister as chief financial officer. He started the role on August 17.
He joins SQC from his role as chief financial officer for semiconductor manufacturer GlobalFoundries between February 2024 and October 2025. Prior to that, he served in various roles for more than two decades at chip designer and manufacturer Silicon Labs.
Previous Experiencd
During his last 11 years at Silicon Labs, Hollister served as CFO. He has also held previous roles with Cicada Semiconductor and semiconductor supplier Cirrus Logic.
Austin, Texas-based Hollister Simon Segars, chair of SQC’s board and chief executive officer is based in San Francisco, as are its chief legal officer Karna Nisewaner who joined from Intel in June 2026.
SQC Component of US Quantum Computing Program
SQC is one of 11 companies participating in Stage B of the US Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency’s Quantum Benchmarking Initiative.
The goal of the initiative is to prove it can build a utility-scale quantum computer in 10 years or so, by 2033. SQC has further financial support from the National Reconstruction Fund and the Federal Industry Department.
What This Means for Australian Entrepreneurs and Businesses
The move brings valuable experience in managing global change management for an Australian quantum computing company. Hollister had a history of senior financial positions at large semiconductor companies, while SQC is developing quantum computing technology and has been working on a US research program.
The appointment also comes ahead of SQC’s commercial plans. Founder and chief executive Michelle Simmons said Hollister adds valuable financial experience needed as the company builds out its commercial roadmap and ramps up manufacturing technology.
