Maggie Beer Holdings has recorded a $9.53 million statutory loss for FY26, due to a drop in organic search traffic impacting Hampers & Gifts Australia at the critical Christmas trading season.

The company recorded a group net sales of $75.73 million in FY26, a slight decline from the previous year's figure of $75.92 million. The revenue climbed to $76.17 million from $76.32 million in the previous year.

Website Migration Cuts Online Traffic

In June 2025, the Hampers & Gifts Australia moved their websites to Shopify, according to the Maggie Beer Holdings. Online sales were then impacted from the organic search traffic drop, which was as much as 38% ahead of Christmas.

About $800,000 was invested in extra advertising, to support traffic and sales. Hampers & Gifts Australia's net sales for FY26 amounted to $41.4 million, which is a 6.3% decrease against the previous year.

Maggie Beer Holdings' food business was performing better. Its products' net sales grew by 8.2% to $34.3 million in FY26.

The group's gross margin climbed by 1.6 percentage points to 49.0% and its trading EBITDA loss was narrowed to $500,000 from $700,000.

Online Spending Reaches $82.6 billion

The findings coincided with Australia's online retail industry's ongoing growth.

According to the study by the Australia Post eCommerce Report 2026, Australians spent $82.6 billion online in 2025 – an increase of 14% from $72.5 billion in 2024. Online spending was 24% of total retail spending.

The report also found that 9.8 million Australian households are shopping online (82% of households). The average online basket price decreased to $96, and during the year households bought from an average of 16 retailers online.

Maggie Beer Holdings' FY26 result came after posting a $24.3 million total loss in FY25. The loss from discontinued operations was $10.1 million, and the loss from continuing operations was $14.2 million.

At the end of FY26, Maggie Beer Holdings had $1.9 million in net cash, and no drawn debt. Chris Illman joined the board as a non-executive director in November 2025, and he is scheduled to take up the role of managing director as of September 2, 2026.
