Anthropic Hires Orange’s AI Chief as It Expands Across Europe

US artificial intelligence company Anthropic is continuing to expand its European presence with the appointment of Steve Jarrett, the chief AI officer at French telecoms group Orange.

In LinkedIn post, he said that he has joined Anthropic and didn’t specify what position he is taking but Jarrett holds a PhD in computer science from Stanford University. In a LinkedIn post, he revealed that he would be commencing with the Paris-based firm on 25 August.

Targeting the European and African Markets

Initially, Jarrett will assist Anthropic in having a better understanding of the needs existing across Europe and Africa and how to build its AI products accordingly for customers present there. Before joining the AI startup, he had been with Orange since 2019.

Expansion Continues

Anthropic opened its 6th office in Europe in Milan as part of its international expansion strategy this year. The company that builds the Claude and Mythos AI models intends to go public before the end of this year while targeting a threefold increase in its global headcount during that time.
