The massive $30 billion fund-raising round is being led by GIC, the sovereign wealth fund in Singapore, and the investment firm Coatue. Other leading supporters such as Microsoft and Nvidia also participated, underscoring the massive bet that the world’s biggest tech names are placing on Anthropic.
The company’s meteoric ascent is powered by its emphasis on useful business tools. Though many AI companies target general conversation, Anthropic has won over developers with a specialised tool for writing software called Claude Code. Since the beginning of 2026 alone, this product has doubled its revenue to an annual run-rate of $2.5 billion.
Outside of coding, Anthropic’s new “Cowork” agent has sent ripples through the tech world.
