Nvidia is in advanced talks to become the lead investor in a $20 million funding round of Indian artificial intelligence startup Simplismart, per multiple reports by people with knowledge of the situation. Proposed terms are worth the company at about $100 million.
The talks coincide with Nvidia's continued efforts to branch out into software and infrastructure layers to enable the deployment of AI models. Neither Nvidia nor Simplismart have officially confirmed the talks.
According to industry filings, Simplismart last raised approximately $7 million in October 2024 at a valuation near $25 million.
Enterprise AI deployment tools at the centre of the deal
Simplismart develops software to make companies more efficient in their production environments by running AI models. The platform is centered on optimising models for GPUs, deploying models, and minimising compute expenses for generative AI workload deployments.
The company backs applications like large language models, speech systems and image-generating applications. It serves Tata 1mg, Mindtickle, InVideo and Dashtoon.
The startup also links with Nvidia's inference ecosystem, such as Nvidia Inference Microservices, which is created to simplify the deployment of AI throughout the cloud systems.
India’s role in global AI supply chain gains attention
CB Insights estimates that Simplismart has raised $14 million in total funding and generated $1 million in revenue on the back of which in 2024. It was established in 2022 by ex-Oracle and Google engineers.
The discussions come at a time when investments in AI infrastructure are increasing worldwide. By the end of the decade, AI investments in capital equipment, such as chips, cloud systems and the deployment of AI models, could reach hundreds of billions of dollars per year, according to McKinley estimates.
