Google Results Reinforce Status as Internet Powerhouse

Synopsis

Google is showing that the internet empire it built, powered by searches and advertising, is still growing its empire in artificial intelligence. Its parent company, Alphabet, announced record-breaking revenue in the quarter of $113.8 billion thanks to a 48% growth spurt in its cloud business. AI takes over as growth driver, is doubling down in infrastructure with plans to spend up to $185 billion by 2026. With AI-driven search and a huge new partnership with Apple, Google is shaping up to be the central superintelligence of the next tech era.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — Google’s parent company, Alphabet, posted a corporate-behemoth take on its earnings report and the portrait was of a business at the top of its game. While there were worries that artificial intelligence (AI) would disrupt the company’s traditional bread-and-butter search business, Google turned it into a colossal financial victory.

Revenue in the final months of 2025 rose to $113.8 billion for the company that owns Google, an increase of 18 percent that easily surpassed what analysts had forecast. The company’s profit rose by 30 percent, to $34.5 billion. These findings suggest that Google is not simply surviving the AI revolution, but actually driving it. How is it that a company that was founded in the 1990s has such a stranglehold on the latest tech trend?

01
Chapter one

The A.I. Boom from Data Centers to Cloud

The true “showstopper” in the report was Google Cloud. This is the portion of the business that supplies the raw computing and data center services for A.I. services to operate. Revenue in that division surged 48 percent to $17.7 billion.

The company’s chief, Sundar Pichai, said the was an “escalatory situation” for the company. One is Google’s own AI, which it calls Gemini, and that has now been woven through almost everything the company does, from Gmail to Chrome to its core search engine. Even Apple has acknowledged Google’s advantage, having signed a deal to use Gemini technology as part of efforts to provide a significant upgrade for Siri on iPhones.

Chapter two

Billions to Remain No. 1

Google is already on an unprecedented spending spree to keep up with the massive demand for A.I. Just in 2025 alone, the company spent $91 billion on “capital expenditures”,most of it consists of building those giant data centers and buying all that expensive chips needed for AI.

For 2026, that budget is projected to balloon to $175 billion to in excess of $185 billion. That’s an eye-popping number, it accounts for roughly half of the company’s total annual revenue. And while the freewheeling ways at Google have prompted concerns about how high the cost could go, experts add that Google is “spending into strength.” They’re not just struggling to stay relevant, they are constructing the infrastructure the rest of us will use to run our own AI tools.

03
Chapter three

Search and Advertising Still Rule

As glitzy as A.I. is, Google’s “old-school” search and advertising business remains the engine that pays all those bills. Digital ad sales were up 14 percent this quarter, a sign that businesses are still spending big to reach customers via Google.

The company is discovering that AI, despite appearances to the contrary, gets people to search more, not less. Features such as “AI Overview” (where the computer provides a summary answer) have kept users on the website longer. Google is also experimenting with new methods to inject ads directly into these AI conversations, creating an entirely new way to make money.

04
Chapter four

A $4 Trillion Powerhouse

Thanks to this streak of success, Google’s total market value has soared to over $4 trillion, putting it among the most valuable companies in history. The stock price has fallen a bit since the report (no doubt because investors were already expecting so much) but the message is an unmistakable one.

Google has made the transition from the mobile internet to the artificial-intelligence era. By marrying its giant advertising business to the world’s greatest information dispersal machine, the company has set a course that ensures its empire will haunt us for years.
