Hamas

Breaking News – Inception official says Hamas has accepted a proposal for a 60-day ceasefire with Israel. This plan includes the release of about half of the hostages who are still held in Gaza and the release of some Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails. A senior Hamas figure, Basem Naim, wrote that the group handed its approval to the mediator. Israeli media reported that a response from Hamas was received, but Israel has not made any official statement.

The offer follows the lines put forward earlier by the US envoy. It would pause Israeli media operations for two months and set a path for provider talks aimed at ending the war. The news comes as smoke again rose over Gaza and rockets were reported.

Israel Weighs Response as Protests Grow and Gaza City Offensive Looms

Israel’s Prime Minister said Hamas is under immense pressure, but he did not confirm whether Israel will accept the plan. At the same time, Israel has approved a move to take control of Gaza City. Tanks were reported in the Sabra area late Monday. The Army already controls most of Gaza, but commanders want to ensure that a deeper push into the city would endanger hostages.

Inside Israel, public pressure is rising at a very fast rate. Huge crowds packed rallies on Sunday, demanding a deal and an end to the war. Families of captives say that the time is running out. And officials believe that about 50 hostels are still in Gaza, and roughly 20  are thought to be alive.

Mediators From Egypt, Qatar, And the US Push Talks Towards an Agreement

Mediators met with Hamas and Cairo on Sunday. Qatar’s Prime Minister joined on Monday and met Egypt’s president and Hamas representatives. They proposed a new proposal, which is just like earlier, consisting of stop fighting, swap hostages and prisoners, and open the door agreement. But still, big gaps remain. Hamas rejects disarming or expelling leaders. Israel wants all hostages freed and security guarantees that Hamas will not rearm. Aid agencies say hunger is getting worse, and more than 200 people have died from malnutrition.

Thousands more left East and Gaza city, fearing a new ground push. Shelton Manager’s families are moving towards the South. One of them said that there is no life left, explaining high prices, no work, and constant strikes. The war began after the 7 October 2023, Hamas attack that killed about 1200 people in Israel and took 251 hostage. Gaza‘s health Authority says more than 61,000 Palestinians have been killed since.
