Lincraft to close all Australian and New Zealand stores after 80 years in business
Lincraft has announced it will progressively close all of its physical stores across Australia and New Zealand after more than 80 years in business. More than 60 stores will be affected, while the retailer's online business will continue operating during the transition. Managing director John Maguire described the move as an extremely difficult decision and said supporting employees remains the company's priority.
Lincraft has revealed that it will slowly shut all its stores across Australia and New Zealand, scrapping more than 80 years of retail. Lincraft confirmed in an email to Lincraft Club members on Tuesday that it was clearly a difficult and deeply emotional decision for everyone at the craft retailer.
More Than 60 Stores to Be Impacted
The closure plan will impact more than 60 stores in Australia and New Zealand operated by Lincraft. The company said it will gradually close its physical store network over the next few months. Lincraft said in a message to customers that it had decided after being a supplier for more than 80 years to support creative communities in both countries.
Although physical stores will close, Lincraft has confirmed its online store will continue to operate during this transition period. Customers can still have access to shop online.
Managing Director Calls Decision Difficult
Lincraft managing director John Maguire said it was an incredibly challenging decision especially for employees. Maguire told Inside Retail that first as always, they want to make sure teammates are supported through this transition and communicate as clearly and respectfully as possible.
