Nvidia announced collaborations with some Japanese companies, including Fanuc and Yaskawa Electric, to accelerate/ speed developing robotics and AI. At the event in Tokyo, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said AI will lead to smart robots that companies can use without requiring bulky programming.
Noetra to Buy Nvidia AI Chips
Noetra, a government-backed company with Sony as one of its investors, announced it would acquire 27,500 Nvidia Rubin chips for the company’s physical AI program.
The firm aims to start work in April 2027 and begin operations in June 2028. Huang noted that Japan has a huge opportunity around physical AI combining AI, machines and robots.
Japan Strengthens AI Push
Huang’s trip also included meetings with the heads of Japanese technology companies such as memory chip maker Kioxia and semiconductor equipment company Tokyo Electron, plus industry conferences.
Despite losing its top share of chip production over time, Japan still leads the world in many aspects of the chip supply chain including materials and manufacturing equipment.
