Oracle and Quantinuum announced a multi-year partnership on Tuesday aimed at bringing quantum computing capabilities to Oracle’s cloud platform as the technology industry continues working toward broader commercial adoption.
Under the agreement, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure customers will be able to use Quantinuum’s Helios quantum computer through Oracle’s quantum service. They will also be able to combine quantum computing with Oracle’s graphics processing and high-performance computing capabilities.
Helios will operate on-site within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and is expected to integrate with Oracle’s existing cloud services while maintaining the same controls customers already use.
Helios to Be Deployed in the US
Quantinuum commercially launched Helios in November, and the quantum computer will be installed at a US-based Oracle AI data centre.
The companies will explore how quantum computing can be combined with AI and high-performance computing to solve complex problems for businesses. The partnership is also designed to make quantum technology more accessible to universities and research institutions.
Oracle plans to preview its quantum computing service in the coming months. The platform will bring together Quantinuum’s development tools and open-source programming frameworks, enabling developers to build and test applications that combine quantum and traditional computing.
