Synopsis

The biotech's FDA-approved cell therapy generated US$36 million in June quarter revenue, contributing to annual sales of US$115 million.

Melbourne biotechnology company Mesoblast said that FY26 revenue came in at US$115m as its cell therapy product, Ryoncil, gained momentum in the first full year of sales on the US market.

In the June quarter, Mesoblast achieved net Ryoncil revenue of US$36 million, putting it within the previously estimated annual sales range of US$110 million to US$120 million.

The shift represents Mesoblast’s largest positive revenue change since the commercial launch of Ryoncil in the US.

For the six months ended December, Mesoblast had reported sales of US$51.3 million up from US$3.2 million in the prior period, a shift from a development company to one generating commercial product revenue.

Commercial Sales Gather Pace

Commercial sales are picking up. Ryoncil received FDA approval to treat children aged 2 months or older with steroid-refractory acute graft-versus-host disease (SR-aGvHD), a common, and serious, side effect after an allogeneic bone marrow transplant that fails to respond to steroids.

The product remains the first FDA-approved therapy using MSCs for any indication. Sales throughout the year have been solid.

Mesoblast’s full-year results have been underpinned by growing net Ryoncil revenue from US$30.3 million in the March quarter to US$36 million in the June quarter.

Chapter two

Pipeline and Financial Position

Mesoblast is a cash-positive company with US$122m in the bank at 31 March 2026 and trades on both the ASX (MSB) and Nasdaq (MESO), reporting decreasing operating cash outflows and rising commercial receipts.

The company is also in the process of conducting a pivotal study for Ryoncil in adults with SR-aGvHD, a population it views as being around three times the size of its current approved market, and it is continuing to advance its late-stage cell therapy program for Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) estimates that approximately 10,000 allogeneic bone marrow transplants are performed in the US annually, with a key concern being acute graft-versus-host disease, creating an obvious market for new therapies like Ryoncil.

The FY2026 result signifies the first year of recurring commercial revenue for Mesoblast, with US sales becoming its leading product revenue source.
