Perth Family Tragedy: Four Found Dead In Mosman Park

Synopsis

Police are investigating a suspected murder-suicide after four people were found dead in a house in Mosman Park, a western suburb of Perth. The victims are two teenage boys and their parents. Officers have said there was no evidence of violence, no weapon involved or previous reports of family violence. A note was discovered among the property but the timeline is still being reconstructed. There is no ongoing threat to the public as the investigation proceeds, authorities said.

Western Australia Police were called to a home at mosman park on Friday morning after a visitor got no answer after their pre-planned visit. Officers entered the home to find four people dead inside. A 50-year-old man, 49-year-old woman and two boys aged 14 and 16 were found dead. Police confirmed all four were relatives. Three pets, two dogs and a cat, were also discovered dead there.

Chapter one

No Gun Recovered And No Earlier Reports Of Family Violence

Detective Inspector Jessica Securo said they don’t believe a weapon was used and there were no signs of a struggle indicative of violence. She said the deaths did not seem to have entailed force, and called it a “devastating tragedy”. He said there was no previous history of family violence on file in relation to the family, and none of the deceased had criminal histories. There is no threat to the broader community, investigators say.

Police said a note was found at the home and was now part of the investigation. The bodies were located in separate areas of the property, although officers would not elaborate. It is unclear when the deaths happened. Police are trying to figure out if the incident occurred overnight or before that, and how long the family members may have been inside of the house before they were found.

Chapter two

Officers And Neighbourhood In Shock

A large police presence is still evident in the area, with roads closed off across mott close as forensic teams remain at work. The public have been told to stay away from the area while police inquiries are carried out.

Detective Inspector Securo said officers who attended the scene were “naturally in shock” and are being supported. Neighbours described the street as a quiet place to live, adding that the events were completely out of character for the area.

Police said both teenage boys had severe health issues, but did not give any further detail. The police said there was no evidence of previous violence in the home. It’s not clear which strategy reduced the bodies in this case, but they’ve said that for many of the bodies, there was no violent episode happening

Continuing Forensic Work, And Review By The Coroner

The investigation by the police is in its early stages, they say. “Forensic examinations will be carried out and the Coroner will review the deaths as part of normal protocol in matters such as this.” The deaths have received widespread coverage as part of the ongoing mosman park news and wider perth news, with police asking for patience while they piece together a definite timeline and sequence regarding the pair’s deaths.
