US Preparing F-35 Sale to Saudi Arabia
To date, the Saudi Air Force has an elite fighter jets unit, which consists of fighter aircraft such as Boeing F-15s, European Tornados, and Typhoons. Earlier this year, Saudi Arabia made a direct appeal to buy the jets. Following this, the Pentagon’s policy department worked on the potential transaction for months. The sale of the F-35 to Saudi Arabia had been hindered by broader diplomatic efforts in the past. When former US President Joe Biden explored providing F-35s to Saudi Arabia, it sought the Middle-East country to normalise relations with Israel, but the efforts ultimately stalled.
