Early Beginnings: From Triathlete to Financial Leader
Tony Kofkin’s journey into finance began in 1992 under unique circumstances. A former triathlete with two bad knees, he found himself seeking a new path and joined National Mutual, then Australia’s second-largest insurer and superannuation provider. This was a transformative era for the industry, as compulsory superannuation had just been introduced in Australia, creating new opportunities and challenges.
At National Mutual, Kofkin specialised in corporate superannuation, quickly establishing himself as a knowledgeable and reliable professional. After two years, driven by entrepreneurial ambition, he ventured out on his own, founding his first business. Over the next 18 years, he grew this venture substantially before selling it in 2006 and briefly retiring. However, his passion for the industry led him to start anew, founding Kofkin Bond & Co from scratch 12 years ago.
