Pakistan Warns of Imminent Indian Military Strike Amid Rising Border Tensions

Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar issued a stark warning Wednesday that intelligence sources indicate India may launch a military strike within 24 to 36 hours, dramatically escalating the Pakistan India tension that has been building since last week’s deadly attack in Kashmir.
“We have credible intelligence about India’s intentions,” Tarar stated in an official announcement shared on social media platform X. “Any aggression will face decisive response.”
The warning comes amid deteriorating relations between the nuclear-armed neighbors following an attack that killed 26 tourists near Pahalgam in Indian-controlled Kashmir last week.
Kashmir Attack Triggers Diplomatic Crisis
Indian authorities have claimed Pakistani involvement in the Pahalgam attack, an accusation Islamabad firmly denies. Pakistan has instead called for an independent investigation into the incident.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has publicly vowed to pursue and punish those responsible for the attack, fueling concerns about potential military action.
Nations Exchange Countermeasures
The Pakistan India tension has already resulted in significant countermeasures from both sides:
- India suspended visa services for Pakistani nationals
- Pakistan closed its airspace to Indian airlines
- India put the critical Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance
Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif told reporters Pakistan remains on high alert but emphasized nuclear weapons would only be deployed if “there is a direct threat to our existence.”
Regional Stability at Risk
Both countries claim full rights to Kashmir but control only portions of the disputed territory. The region has been a flashpoint for multiple conflicts between the neighbors since independence.
The international community has urged restraint as fears grow that any military engagement could quickly spiral into a larger conflict with devastating regional consequences. Military analysts note that any strike would mark a dangerous new phase in the Pakistan India tension that has defined the relationship between the two nations for decades.
