Corporate Beginnings and the Call for Change
Chantelle and Poppy’s professional journeys began in traditional settings. Poppy spent 12 to 13 years entrenched in the corporate world, having fallen into her job after completing one year of university. “I thought that the corporate world was it; I thought I’d made it,” she reflects, recalling the allure of a good salary, bonuses, and city life. However, her perspective shifted dramatically when she was introduced to the Northside Nutrition community, which sparked a newfound passion for helping others.
On the other hand, Chantelle dedicated 14 years to her career as an emergency nurse. Straight out of school, she pursued nursing, believing it would be her lifelong vocation. As the first in her family to attend university, she felt immense pride in her achievements. Eventually, she became an educator in the emergency department, training new nurses. However, the birth of her son prompted a crucial reevaluation of her future. “Can I really do this for another 15 years?” she asked herself, yearning for more fulfilment and a greater sense of purpose.
Both sisters found themselves at a crossroads, driven by personal health transformations and the desire to positively impact others.
The Spark: Discovering a Passion for Nutrition
Their foray into entrepreneurship was ignited by personal health journeys. Chantelle and Poppy both experienced transformative results with a nutrition program that boosted their energy, clarity, and overall health. Enthralled by their personal successes, they were inspired to share this newfound vitality with others.
For Chantelle, the journey began at a smoothie bar, a space that radiated community spirit and energy. As she integrated into this environment, she realized the potential to create a business focused on health and wellness. Poppy, witnessing her sister’s transformation and driven by her own results, saw an opportunity to blend her nursing skills with a passion for health coaching.
Building a Business: From Side Hustle to Mainstream Success
Initially, both sisters treated their wellness coaching as a side hustle. With no prior business experience, they leaned on mentors and robust training systems to build their enterprise. “We had incredible business mentors and an awesome training system,” Chantelle recalls, crediting these resources for their initial success.
As their confidence grew, so did their business. Poppy continued part-time in her corporate role while expanding their venture, illustrating the flexibility and scalability of their business model. Their approach allowed them to balance their commitments while nurturing their passion for wellness.
Community at the Core: The Northside Nutrition Hub
Central to their philosophy is the creation of a supportive community. Northside Nutrition Hub, with its smoothie bars and free community workouts, is more than a business; it’s a movement aimed at educating and uplifting individuals. The sisters aim to impact 10,000 people through their initiatives, emphasizing sustainable health practices and fostering long-term wellness.
At the core of their business are nutrition clubs where they serve nutrient-dense smoothies and energizing teas. They currently operate two such bars and are on the verge of opening their third. These hubs serve as the central point for their community-building efforts.
Their business model revolves around three key components:
- Nutrition Education: They offer various challenges (3-day, 10-day, and 28-day) to educate people about sustainable nutrition habits.
- Free Community Workouts: To complement the nutrition aspect, they organize free fitness sessions for the community.
- Personal Coaching: Each client receives personalized support and guidance throughout their health journey.
Their business model is built on accessibility and empowerment. With free workouts and various nutrition challenges, they offer inclusive options for community members to engage with their wellness journey. This approach not only builds customer loyalty but also amplifies their impact.
The Unseen Challenges and Resilient Growth
Transitioning from corporate roles to entrepreneurship was not without its challenges. Running a bustling smoothie bar, balancing corporate commitments, and maintaining high energy levels were tests of their resilience. However, these challenges became stepping stones to growth.
“We became more resilient only by going through some hard times and getting uncomfortable,” Poppy shares, underscoring the importance of perseverance and mindset. Their experience has taught them valuable lessons in leadership, teamwork, and the necessity of never giving up.
The Vision Forward: Expanding Horizons
Looking ahead, Chantelle and Poppy continue to dream big. Their vision includes opening more smoothie bars and expanding their community impact. By identifying and nurturing leaders within their community, they aim to replicate their success and inspire others to embark on similar journeys.
Their story is a powerful reminder that success is not solely defined by traditional career paths. Through embracing change, pursuing passion, and fostering community, Chantelle and Poppy have not only transformed their lives but also set the stage for others to do the same. Their journey from corporate life to community wellness exemplifies the transformative power of entrepreneurship driven by purpose and resilience.
