Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has overtaken legendary investor Warren Buffett in net worth, reaching an estimated $143.6 billion according to Forbes' real-time billionaires list. In comparison, Buffett’s net worth is at $142.4 billion currently. This rise places Huang among the top 15 richest people globally, mostly because of Nvidia’s stock performance during booming demand for AI computing infrastructure.

01
Chapter one

Nvidia’s AI Growth Leads to Fortune Growth

Nvidia was founded in 1993 by Huang and has now become a central force in the artificial intelligence revolution. The company’s H100 and Blackwell chips are the Gold standard for AI training and power platforms like OpenAI, Meta, and other major tech companies.

In 2025 alone, Huang’s fortune surged by $29 billion, mostly due to his stake in Nvidia, more than 800 million shares spread across various partnerships and trusts. As Nvidia evolved from a chip maker company into a full-stack AI ecosystem, with software, data center blueprints, and network capabilities, it has positioned itself at the forefront of the tech center, becoming the top company.

Nvidia’s market capitalisation crossed $4 trillion this year, briefly making it the world’s most valuable company at the moment. Despite a temporary dip in April due to tariff-related issues, Nvidia’s stock has rebounded by 22.81% year to date.

Chapter two

Huang to Sell 6 Million Shares in 2025

According to a recent SEC filing, Huang sold 225,000 Nvidia shares worth $36.4 million between July 8-10, under a prearranged 10b5-1 trading plan. He previously sold 15 million worth of stock in June and yearly $700 million throughout 2024. The Form 10-Q confirms that Huang plans to sell 6 million shares by the end of 2025.

These prearranged stock sales are legal mechanisms that are used by executives while avoiding any allegations of insider trading, as they’re planned in advance and executed without knowledge of non-public information.

Chapter three

Buffett Focuses on Estate Planning

At 94, Warren Buffett is shifting as focus to legacy planning. In a recent filing, he donated over $12.3 million Berkshire Hathaway Class B shares, valued at $6 million, to philanthropic foundations. This includes 9400,000 shares to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Trust, and the rest of his family foundations managed by his children.

Hid eldest son, Howard Buffett, is said to become the non-executive chairman of Berkshire Hathaway under the estate plan. While acknowledging the difficulty, Howard expressed confidence that he and his siblings will honour their father’s vision and legacy. Buffett still owns 198,117 Class A Berkshire Shares, showing that he remains invested in the company he built over the decades.
