Synopsis

A Chinese stock exchange filing suggests AI startup DeepSeek is valued at approximately $52 billion, offering rare insight into the company's maiden fundraising.

DeepSeek valuation $52 billion rises in China's regulatory filing, providing the first public valuation for the artificial intelligence startup that is among China's most eyed technology companies.

The filing puts DeepSeek's value at 350.88 billion yuan (about US$51.82 billion), and is expected to become a talking point among Australian and U.S. investors who are following the global AI investment trend along with other companies like OpenAI and Anthropic.

The valuation was included in a stock exchange filing by Anhui Korrun, who had made a 0.8265% investment in DeepSeek through a subsidiary via a venture capital partnership, for 2.9 billion yuan. The indirect economic interests of Anhui Korrun in DeepSeek are also 0.0114%.

DeepSeek has not publicly announced the fundraising or the company's valuation, so the filing is the first official reference on the company's valuation.

Filing Offers First Public Pricing

Before DeepSeek sought outside funding, founder Liang Wenfeng and quantitative hedge fund High-Flyer were the key backers of the company. The company previously had said it raised approximately US$7.4 billion in its initial fundraise, which included back-to-back deals led by CATL and Tencent, and is also preparing papers for a potential IPO on the STAR Market in Shanghai.

The company went on to become globally known following the launch of its V3 and R1 large language models, which drove competition between China's AI developers. Reuters also has reported that DeepSeek is also considering a further financing round that could raise its valuation to about 500 billion yuan (about US$71 billion) using that valuation.

AI Capital Remains Concentrated

The new valuation of $52 billion is the latest for DeepSeek, which continues to be dominated by the United States in global investment in artificial intelligence. The U.S. was still the world's biggest market for private investment in AI in 2025, with China topping the list for AI research output, patents and development of foundation models, according to the Stanford University Human-Centered AI (HAI) AI Index Report 2026.

The United States saw US$267 billion in VC investments, while China had around US$20 billion, reflecting the disparity in private capital available to AI startups in the two biggest technology markets.

The disclosure gives another gauge to the listed funds in Australia that are focused on AI, as well as technology investors, who are tracking global AI valuations, especially with the growing anticipation of further listings and funding rounds across the sector.
