Synopsis

The software company boosted its forecast as enterprises and government agencies continued ramping up spending on AI-driven analytics.

Palantir Technologies has lifted its annual outlook after reporting stronger-than-expected second-quarter results, as demand for its artificial intelligence software continued to increase among government agencies and commercial customers.

The company also issued third-quarter guidance above market expectations, reinforcing the momentum it has seen across its core US business.

Palantir now expects 2026 revenue of $8.150 billion to $8.158 billion, compared with its previous forecast of $7.650 billion to $7.662 billion. The updated guidance follows second-quarter revenue of $1.935 billion, a 93% increase from the same period last year and ahead of analysts' estimates of about $1.81 billion.

The company also forecast third-quarter revenue between $2.160 billion and $2.164 billion, exceeding consensus estimates of roughly $2.0 billion. Shares rose about 12% in extended trading after the results were released.

US Business Continues to Lead Growth

Growth remained concentrated in the United States, where revenue climbed 115% year over year to $1.573 billion. Within that total, US commercial revenue increased 149% to $764 million, while US government revenue rose 90% to $809 million.

Palantir also raised its full-year outlook for US commercial revenue to more than $3.42 billion, reflecting continued adoption of its software by businesses. Chief executive Alex Karp said customer demand across both commercial and government sectors continued to expand as organisations integrated AI into everyday operations.

The latest performance builds on the company's financial progress in 2025, when Palantir reported revenue of $3.12 billion, up about 29% from the previous year, while remaining profitable under generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

AI Investment Remains Strong

Palantir's results come as global spending on artificial intelligence continues to rise. According to the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide AI and Generative AI Spending Guide, worldwide AI investment is projected to exceed US$630 billion by 2028, with the United States remaining the largest market, followed by China, while Western Europe represents another major centre for enterprise AI adoption.

Palantir has built much of its business around software used by defence, intelligence and public-sector organisations, while expanding its commercial customer base across industries including financial services, manufacturing and healthcare.

Although international operations continue to grow, the company's strongest revenue contribution remains its US government and commercial business.

The updated Palantir annual outlook reflects continued demand for AI software at a time when organisations are increasing investment in data analysis and automation tools, particularly across regulated industries and government services.
