The Taiwanese chip-testing company is investing US$1.4 billion in capacity in the US from Nvidia supplier King Yuan Electronics (KYEC).
According to the company, the investment aims at sustaining operational expansion as well as strengthening its position in the global semiconductor supply chain.
US Expansion Continues
King Yuan Electronics said it would not name which customers the proposed U.S. site will serve. Nor did it announce the location of the site or a timeline for construction. The firm is a supplier for Nvidia, one of the world's largest m.v. ai chipmakers.
Taiwanese Chipmakers Expand US Presence
After TSMC announced a multibillion-dollar investment in Arizona, Taiwanese semiconductor and electronics companies have raised their manufacturing investment in the United States.
Also in the Texas area, Foxconn and Wistron are expanding their server manufacturing capacity for Nvidia to boost semiconductor production within the United States.
