Israel and Iran Attacks Continue as Leaders Threaten Even More Retaliation

The conflict between Israel and Iran has escalated dramatically over the weekend, and it doesn’t appear that anyone’s relenting anytime soon. People are being injured, and cities are being bombed.
On Sunday night, Iranian rockets slammed into Israeli cities. People could hear the explosions in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and Haifa. The ambulance crews were busy; they had to take more than 10 people to hospitals, with Haifa getting hit the worst. At the same time, Israeli jets were pounding targets deep inside Iran, going after their missile sites and military bases.
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu is rather self-assured about the state of affairs. According to him, his air force effectively dominates Iran’s skies, with it being a “free highway to Tehran.” This is because they destroyed most of Iran’s air defense systems so that Iranian planes and missiles are no longer able to defend the country adequately.
Hundreds Killed in Iran as Citizens Escape from Tehran
The figures emerging from Iran are becoming frightening. Their health ministry confirms that 224 individuals have died since Israel began bombing on Friday. It is nearly double yesterday’s reported figure. More than 1,200 others are injured as well.
Tehranians are panicking. Everyone’s attempting to leave the city at the same time. Gas stations have massive queues, roads are filled with cars, and families are taking whatever they can and fleeing into the countryside. One resident of the area said they don’t receive any warning when the bombs land – they just hear the blasts and hope they’re not next.
Social media forums are sprouting up where individuals are attempting to locate other people to travel with, exchanging advice on which roads to use and where they might be safer.
Israel Strikes Top Iranian Spy Masters
Israel won a great victory by assassinating several of Iran’s most valuable intelligence officials. Mohammad Kazemi, who headed Iran’s principal spy agency, was killed along with his second-in-command and another leading official. These men had Iran’s secrets.
Netanyahu said in a TV interview, “We got their chief intelligence officer and his deputy in Tehran.” The Israelis also bombed Iran’s foreign ministry building, wounding diplomats and making the area look like a wreck with shards of broken glass everywhere. This is not arbitrary bombing – Israel is targeting specific sites that will seriously disrupt Iran’s capacity for retaliation and spying.
World Leaders Scramble as Oil Prices Jump
Leaders gathering in Canada for the G7 meeting are engaged in passionate debates on what to do. They all agree Iran must not develop nuclear weapons, but they cannot agree on how to deal with this disaster. Some want Israel to slow down, while others feel they have every right to protect themselves.
The conflict is already taking a toll on people’s pockets. Gasoline prices skyrocketed over $2 per barrel because investors are concerned about supply issues. That translates into potentially higher prices for gas, and everything that gets transported across the globe could be more expensive.
With both nations bracing for additional conflict, global leaders are squarely in the hot seat to determine how to end this before it gets totally out of hand. But currently, no one appears willing to stand down.
